About the Role:
In alignment with Hudson’s Hope’s current and future needs, the District is looking for a Director of Public Works and Engineering. You will play a pivotal role in shaping Hudson’s Hope future. Providing leadership and oversight for the municipality’s public works assets and services, financial and strategic oversight within the department. Your leadership will drive positive change and ensure our community thrives for generations to come. Education & Experience
A diploma in civil engineering, public administration, construction management, or a related field from a recognized Canadian institution, along with at least five (5) years of progressive experience in municipal infrastructure or public works, including a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory or management role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certifications
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
- Comprehensive knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory requirements for water and wastewater systems, including those administered by the Environmental Operators
- Certification Program (EOCP).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise EOCP-certified personnel and maintain operational and regulatory accountability on behalf of the municipality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Sound understanding of municipal infrastructure systems, public works service delivery, and asset management practices.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, including the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and safety legislation/regulations.
- Skilled in budget development, cost control, and project and contract management.
- Ability to lead diverse teams, resolve conflicts, and build strong working relationships.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, engineering software, and asset management systems; GIS and AutoCAD knowledge is an asset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a focus on transparency and public service
