The Waterworks Section is seeking a Utility Operator III to coordinate and participate in the installation, repair, inspection, and testing of Water systems. The Utility Operator III works on the potable water system, understands and follows best management practices to maintain water quality; performs cross connection device testing; collects water system compliance samples and performs routine analyses prior to submission to lab. Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Level I Certification for Water Distribution; three years of experience in water systems including experience in project management; considerable knowledge of field based GIS software; Traffic Control Certificate; experience and/or training directing the work of others; trained in confined space entry; Knowledgeable in maintenance of fire hydrants, valves, large water meters, leak repair, water pumping and pressure regulating stations, and water system water quality compliance sampling. BCWWA Certification in Cross Connection Control; Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s licence; annual renewal for Driver’s Abstract; and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work. Work is required in all types of weather and includes working in close proximity or contact with raw sewage. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). This is a C.U.P.E.
