POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Equipment Operator will work under the direction of the Supervisors and Foremen and will be responsible to safely and
effectively operate various equipment such as excavators, backhoes, loaders (all with various implements) along with tandem
axel trucks with trailers etc. The focus of the position is to perform a variety of underground water and sewer infrastructure reactive
and scheduled excavation works. As an equipment operator, you will be required to perform regular equipment inspections,
maintenance and minor repairs. In addition, the successful applicant will need to have the ability to work flexible hours, including
shift work and emergency call outs. Preference will be given to those with Heavy Equipment Operator training and a strong
working knowledge and certification related to safe trenching and shoring, ground disturbance, electrical hazard awareness,
WorkSafeBC Regulation as well as water and sewer pipe installation and repair best practices.
• Grade 12 education
• Minimum 5 years of experience working on the construction and/or repair and maintenance of municipal and/or other
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating the types of equipment identified in the Duties and Responsibilities section
• Valid Class 1 B.C. Driver’s License
• Occupational First Aid Level I
