POSITION: Utility Equipment Operator
HOURS OF WORK: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (40 hours per week, Monday – Friday)
HOURLY RATE: Current rate is $32.61 per hour as per Collective Agreement
START DATE: As soon as possible
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, Manager of Utilities, and Chief Operator Utilities, the incumbent will operate heavy equipment to assist with Utility Department jobs. Must be energetic, enthusiastic and committed to operating multiple utility systems:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
8-12 months experience in the operation of excavators, backhoes, dump trucks with tandem and/or single axle and trailer, vacuum/rodder truck, pickup truck, hand and electric tools, safety equipment, personal protection equipment, and communication equipment (radio). Also experience with small tools and small engine tools for working on water, sewer and storm pipes and chlorinators, basic survey and measuring equipment, confined space entry equipment, shoring, air testing equipment, pipe and metal locators, sewer TV camera, propane torches, hand operated compactors and pipe laying equipment, personal computer, and leak detection equipment.
