The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Wastewater/Drainage Operator. Under the direction of a supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day and emergency operation, maintenance, and construction of sanitary and storm sewer collection systems. The Operator will perform work functions that ensure compliance to established policies and procedures, OH&S, WSBC, and MOE regulations and requirements and provide for safe, efficient, and reliable collection and transportation of wastewater in the sanitary and storm sewer systems.
Applicants must have a valid and in good standing EOCP Level II Certificate (Wastewater Collection) or equivalent Provincial Certification with a Provincial Sharing Certification Reciprocity. A minimum 3 years’ experience working in municipal utility installation and maintenance is required. Applicants must possess a valid BC Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement.
This is a unionized position. $36.28 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2021 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included.
