Resource Recovery Team and Operations Supervisor
Full-Time Benefited Position
The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is inviting applications for this position Supervisory and Operational Leadership position in solid waste management.
This is an incredible opportunity for a skilled leader with considerable knowledge of best practices and operations of solid waste management systems and programs.
The Resource Recovery Team and Operations Supervisor oversees day-to-day Resource Recovery service delivery at RDCK locations, including landfills, transfer stations, and recycling depots. The primary role of this position is to lead the RDCK Resource Recovery Customer Service Team and ensure service delivery is meeting the needs of the RDCK and its constituents through optimizing customer service in accordance with policies, guidelines, bylaws, standards and regulations.
Resource Recovery services span 25 locations across the RDCK employing approximately 60-70 field staff as the Customer Service Team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:
Post-secondary degree in a relevant field
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the administration and customer service operation of municipal solid waste services
At least two years of previous supervisory experience
Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
A combination of related work experience and education with strengths in waste management operations would be considered.
Valid BC Driver’s License and a satisfactory Drivers Abstract
Satisfactory Criminal Record
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDE:
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team and provide coaching, direction and discipline as required
Previous contract administration and Occupational Health and Safety program experience and a strong dedication to health & safety in the workplace
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with external stakeholders
Ability to work independently and in a consultative, team work environment
Considerable knowledge of the customer service operations, procedures and practices used in waste management
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application and interpretation of Federal, Provincial and Local Government Act, regulations, guidelines and best practices governing solid waste management, other environmental programs and issues
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to the values of the RDCK: Health and Safety, Accountability, Integrity, Respect

About the Job:
The successful applicant will work 35 hours per week on a schedule that may include a weekend day. As this is an operational role, this position may work from the office, from home or in the field, depending on the requirements of the operation. The RDCK offers a regular earned-day-off program to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
