The City of North Vancouver Engineering, Parks & Environment department requires a Regular Full-time Engineering Inspector.
As part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for technical, regulatory, and inspection work performed in the Engineering Department. Working under the direction of the Manager of Engineering Planning and Design, you will provide quality control inspections of various public works construction and utility installation projects.
Specific responsibilities include quality control inspection and regulating construction work performed by private contractors and public works crews to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, contracts, specifications and related requirements. The work will include maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, initiating contract change work orders, assisting in design preparation and cost estimates as well as consulting and liaising with a variety of internal and external contacts and liaising with the public on construction issues and complaints.
The successful applicant will possess a diploma or degree in civil engineering as well as certification as a Public Works Inspector II (CPWI 2) with ASTTBC through the Public Works Inspectors Society. A thorough knowledge of MMCD Construction Standards and Specifications together with considerable experience and knowledge of the methods, practices and materials used in the construction and installation of municipal services. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.
$36.45 to $43.04 per hour (January 2019 rates)
Pay Grade 24 (Provisional)

The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately every 3-week scheduling cycle.
