The City of Dawson Creek invites applications from dynamic and enterprising individuals for the position of Water Resource Manager to join the excellent team in the Water & Environmental Department, starting as soon as possible. This full time permanent position will be of interest to individuals who wish to join a busy team in a bustling community located in resource rich Northeastern BC in the beautiful Peace Region. Reporting to the General Manager of Development Services, you are a leader of a highly skilled and diverse team of up to 12 environmental operators, environmental professionals and contract trades that are responsible for the management of two watersheds, treated and raw water reservoirs, lift stations, booster stations, a water treatment plant, a wastewater treatment facility and various other water distribution and wastewater collection facilities. You are a proven leader, responsible for providing guidance and supervision to the operational team in your department and providing management and oversight of all water resources. Working closely with the City’s Project Manager, you have an interest in and excel at leading teams of consultants and in-house staff in the successful completion of water and sewer capital infrastructure projects.
As a preferred candidate, you bring at least five years of experience managing a water, wastewater or public works operation and have comprehensive knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems. Your interpersonal, communications, management, and leadership skills will ensure your department’s success in aligning your department’s actions with the strategic priorities of Council. Your comprehensive knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems and operations will also aid you in advising the General Manager in service requirements and in resolving issues as they arise. Your excellent writing, and presentation skills allow you to effectively communicate with the public, elected officials, and other government agencies. You have the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. You are familiar with common business software and SCADA and hold a valid driver’s license.
